Mythical Matchmaker is a match-making relationships comedy game about teaching mythical figures how to love again after the modern world has unbalanced the scales of love and lust, causing a ripple effect to sweep through the mythical realm.
In this game, the player has recently died and is sent to the afterlife where they are intercepted by Asmodeus and Cupid, who have been forced to work together to solve the lust crisis in the mythical realm, to do this they recruit the player (with knowledge of the modern world) to help them achieve their goal.
Working on Mythical Matchmaker is a fun and fulfilling experience, whilst also challenging my skills in a creative and productive manner. My main role being the programmer for the group, it is essential that my work is of the best quality it can be to ensure the game runs as smooth as possible.
Making sure to write code to be modular and cohesive being the main challenge throughout the design process. As easy as it is to write mountains of spaghetti code, a lot of my process includes revising code to make sure it is as efficient as possible, and commenting on code to allow anyone helping out to knows what code does what.
Outside of programming I also give insight to the rest of my team on what decisions we could make on the art or narrative direction. As a team we think it is very important to allow for collaboration between roles so everyone can spit ball ideas, because of this organising meetings is very important, which is another one of my roles within the team.
