If you know me you know about my passion for games design. And if you don't then I am the best programmer in the world!
Coming from a background in computer science and web design, I have been pushing code to its limit for nearly 7 years, but my passion for games started almost 20 years ago. Growing up with 2 brothers and a Wii, many core memories where made playing games, a sentiment that grew into a want to recreate those memories for others.
I hated secondary school, the pressure of not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, struggling with dyslexia, and having a lack of creative freedom, pushed me into a corner. The only thing I enjoyed was computer science, but I didn't know if I had the skills to peruse it as a career, only knowing bits of Python and HTML4 at the time.
Naturally I ran with it and got accepted into a computer science Btec that happened to have a Games module. And by the end of the course I designed a game that made me realise I did have what it takes to make games. Which lead me to where I am now, having just recently graduated from Southampton University, with a First class BA in games design and art.
Why do I tell you all this though? Well because its a mix of all these experiences that makes me do what I want to do. I want to bring things to the games industry that I feel it has been lacking, I want to craft experiences that are accessible to everyone, I want to help revive couch co-op and arcade-style games, and I want to challenge the mainstream norms and be apart of the drastic push towards indie titles the industry has seen in recent years.
Throughout my game design journey so far, I have used countless engines, and software, and I hope you will agree my programming skills have come a long way from where they started! With 13 projects under my belt I am continuing to tinker with new ideas, and who knows, maybe one of them will stick.
Regardless, games are what I enjoy and I will continue making them for as long as I have fun doing so.
